Fixing "Allowed memory size exhausted"

Raise the PHP memory limit for WordPress.

This error means a page needed more memory than PHP allows.

  1. In cPanel, open MultiPHP INI Editor (or Select PHP Version → Options) and raise memory_limit, for example to 256M.
  2. Optionally, add this line to wp-config.php above the line that says "That's all, stop editing":
define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
  1. Reload the page.

If the error keeps coming back with higher limits, a plugin is probably misbehaving. Find it the way described in Fixing the white screen.
