Resetting the WordPress admin password
Three ways in, even when the reset email doesn't arrive.
1. The "Lost your password?" link
On the login page, click Lost your password? and enter your username or email. If the email doesn't arrive, use one of the methods below.
2. WordPress Manager in cPanel
In cPanel, open WordPress Manager by Softaculous, choose the site, and use its option to change the admin password.
3. phpMyAdmin
- In cPanel, open phpMyAdmin and select your site's database.
- Open the
wp_userstable (the prefix may differ) and click Edit on your user. - In
user_pass, choose the function MD5, type the new password and click Go.
WordPress upgrades the password to a stronger hash the next time you sign in.
On your own server with WP-CLI: wp user update admin --user_pass="NewStrongPassword".
