FTP won't connect
The usual causes: wrong host, username, encryption or a blocked IP.
- "Login incorrect": use the full FTP username (for example
user@example.com) and its own password, not your client-area password. - Connection timed out: check the host, and use explicit FTP over TLS on port 21. Try passive mode (FileZilla uses it by default).
- Certificate warning on first connect: that's normal for FTP over TLS; check the server name and accept it.
- Worked before, now blocked? Too many failed attempts may have blocked your IP. See I can't reach my site from my office.
cPanel → FTP Accounts → Configure FTP Client shows the exact settings for each account. See Connecting with FTP.
