Fixing "403 Forbidden"

Permissions, a missing index file, or a security rule.

"403 Forbidden" means the server refuses to show the page.

  1. No home page file? Make sure index.php or index.html is directly inside the site's folder (for the main site, public_html).
  2. Wrong permissions? In File Manager, folders should be 755 and files 644.
  3. A rule in `.htaccess`? Rename the file to .htaccess-old to test.
  4. Blocked by a security rule? If it happens only when you submit a form or open the admin area, a security rule (such as a web application firewall) may have blocked the request. Open a ticket with the exact page address and time, so we can check and allow it.
