Just bought a VPS or dedicated server: what to do next
From the delivery ticket to a secured, monitored server.
- Open the delivery ticket under Support → My tickets for the IP, username and password. See Receiving your server details.
- Open IDX Panel from the service's Manage server button and look around. See A tour of the server page.
- Connect: SSH for Linux or Remote Desktop for Windows, and change the password.
- Secure it: updates, SSH keys and the firewall. See First steps with a new server.
- Install the INSIDX agent for memory, disk and service alerts. See The INSIDX agent.
