Backing up and restoring your website

Download a full or partial backup, and restore it.

On this page

Always keep a copy of your website somewhere other than the hosting itself.

Downloading a backup

  1. In cPanel, open Backup (or Backup Wizard).
  2. Download:
    • a home directory backup for your files,
    • each MySQL database backup,
    • email forwarders and filters if you use them.
  3. Store the files on your computer or in cloud storage.

Restoring

In the same Backup page, upload the file under Restore a Home Directory Backup or Restore a MySQL Database Backup.

Make a backup before every big change: a theme or plugin update, a PHP version change, or a redesign.

Need a copy restored from our own backups? Open a ticket with the date you need. Restores may carry a fee, and keeping your own backups is your responsibility; see Backups: whose responsibility?.
