Connecting your domain to Microsoft 365

Verify the domain, then add Microsoft's email records.

  1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings → Domains → Add domain and enter your domain.
  2. Microsoft shows a TXT record to prove ownership. Add it in your DNS (see Verifying your domain) and click Verify.
  3. Microsoft then lists the records for email and other services, typically MX, CNAME (autodiscover) and TXT (SPF). Add them exactly as shown. See Adding and editing DNS records.
  4. Remove old MX records that point elsewhere, so email goes only to Microsoft 365.

Changing the MX records moves where your email is delivered. If you're moving from another email service, plan the switch and copy old mail first. See Moving email.
