Hosting a website on Windows Server with IIS

Install IIS, add a site and bind your domain.

  1. Open Server Manager → Add roles and features, choose Web Server (IIS) and finish the wizard. Add ASP.NET under Application Development if you need it.
  2. Put your site's files in a folder, for example C:\inetpub\example.
  3. Open IIS Manager → Sites → Add Website: name, the folder, and a binding for your domain on port 80.
  4. Allow ports 80 and 443 in IDX Panel's firewall and in Windows Firewall.
  5. Point your domain to the server, then add a certificate (for example with a free ACME client for Windows) and an HTTPS binding on port 443.
