Backups: whose responsibility?
Keep your own copies; our backups are a safety net, not a guarantee.
Under our Hosting Services Agreement, keeping backups of your data is your responsibility. Any backups we keep are provided on a reasonable-effort basis, and aren't a guarantee that data can be recovered.
What this means for you
- Keep your own up-to-date copies of websites, databases and email, stored outside your hosting. See A backup strategy that actually works.
- Restores from our backups can be requested by ticket and may carry a fee.
- When a service is cancelled, expires or is terminated, its data and backups may be deleted.
The easiest safety net: an automatic backup plugin for WordPress, or automatic server backups to IDX storage.
