Creating a MySQL database
Create the database, a user, and give the user access.
Most web applications (WordPress, WooCommerce, Laravel and so on) need a database. The easiest way is the Database Wizard.
- In cPanel, open Manage My Databases or the Database Wizard.
- Enter a database name and create it.
- Create a database user with a strong password.
- Give the user ALL PRIVILEGES on the database.
- Note the database name, username and password: your application asks for them. The database host is
localhost.
cPanel adds your account username as a prefix to database and user names (for example acct_shop). Use the full name in your application.
Managing data
Open phpMyAdmin in cPanel to browse tables, run queries, and import or export a database. See Importing and exporting a database.
Installing WordPress or another app with Softaculous creates the database for you. See Installing apps with Softaculous.
