Keeping your account secure

Simple habits that stop most account takeovers.

On this page

Your account controls your websites, servers, domains and email, so it deserves real protection.

Do this

  1. Use a strong, unique password for your IDX account. See Changing your account password.
  2. Turn on two-factor authentication if it's offered under Security settings in your account menu. You'll then need a code from an authenticator app as well as your password.
  3. Protect your email. Whoever controls your email can reset your IDX password, so secure that mailbox with a strong password and two-factor authentication too.
  4. Give team members their own access instead of sharing your password. See Contacts and team access.

Recognise fake messages (phishing)

  • IDX will never ask for your password, card number or verification codes.
  • Check links before clicking: our client area is my.insidx.com. A slightly different address is a fake.
  • Be suspicious of urgent messages threatening to suspend your service "within an hour" unless you pay through a link. Sign in to the client area yourself to check your invoices instead.

If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password immediately and contact support.
