Selling online in Egypt has never been easier to start, but a store that lasts needs more than a theme and a few products. Here are the decisions to make, roughly in order.
1. Platform
- WooCommerce on your own hosting: full control, no per-sale platform fees, and a huge choice of plugins, including local payment and shipping integrations.
- Shopify: quick to start and fully hosted, with a monthly subscription.

2. Domain and brand
Register a short brand domain. A .com, a .com.eg or a .store are all good choices; many stores register two and redirect one to the other. Use the same domain for email so order confirmations look trustworthy.
3. Payments
Offer the methods your customers use: cards through a local payment gateway, mobile wallets, and cash on delivery, which is still popular. Check each gateway's fees, settlement time and integration with your platform.
4. Shipping
Choose a courier with good coverage of your target governorates, clear rates and a way to track parcels. Many couriers integrate directly with WooCommerce and Shopify.
5. Hosting that can handle a sale
A WooCommerce store needs more resources than a brochure site: checkout, search and stock updates all hit the database. Pick a plan with enough CPU and memory, daily backups and room to upgrade before a big campaign.
6. Trust and legal basics
Clear prices including taxes, return and exchange policy, delivery times, a contact number and an SSL certificate on every page.
7. Launch, then measure
Set up analytics and Google Search Console before launch, so you can see which products and pages bring sales.
